• About Our School

Welcome to our NRHEG Elementary!  We are a PreK-5 building dedicated to educational excellence, ensuring all students have the opportunity to achieve their full potential. In partnership with families and our communities, we provide a well-balanced, integrated, character-building curriculum based upon diverse student needs within a safe and nurturing environment.  Our current initiatives include:

    • PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports)
    • RtI (Response to Intervention)
    • PLCs (Professional Learning Communities)
    • Increased Student Achievement and Growth for All

All staff members are dedicated to providing a quality, well-rounded education for all students.  Each of these initiatives will occur while we continue to strive for student growth and achievement.

Mission Statement:  Empowering students with knowledge and skills to succeed.

Vision Statement:  To be the school district of choice, inspiring excellence in academics, arts, and activities.

    2022-2023 Elementary Building Goals

    • All students will show academic growth, to their full potential, in all areas. Our staff will have an increased focus on reading and math instruction. Response to Intervention will continue to be included in our daily schedule for both reading and math.
    • We will continue our focus on supporting and refining our Professional Learning Communities (PLCs). Our focus remains on the Four Questions the Drive the Work of a PLC:
      • What is it we want our students to learn?
      • How will we know if our students have learned it?
      • How will we support our students when they are struggling to learn?
      • How will we support our students when they have already learned it?
    • All students will develop and show appropriate use of tools and skills to become life-long learners, critical thinkers, and positive contributors to society. We will continue to incorporate technology into our everyday learning.  Each student will have an iPad or Chromebook available for their use.  This technology is used for intervention and extension with all students.
    • We will continue to focus on the successful implementation of our reading and language arts curriculum, Fountas and Pinnell, to all PreK-5 students. Lexia Learning and instructional groups will support our reading goals and objectives.  We will devote 150 minutes of our day to literacy instruction.
    • All students will develop the qualities of character necessary to contribute to a safe, community-minded environment. Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) will be a part of our programming. NRHEG Elementary became a PBIS in 2011.  We will use innovative and research-based instructional practices and assessments to identify individual student needs and increase academic proficiency. Grade level teachers and departments will continue the development of common summative assessments in Reading/Language Arts. Math Common Assessments are used quarterly in the classrooms and are part of our pre and post-assessment strategies.
    • We will develop skills such as critical thinking, information literacy, collaboration, self-direction, and invention to promote proficiency across the content areas and to enhance student lives.
    • We will support and work diligently to support the District goal of achieving a 97% graduation rate.

I continue to look forward to working with the students and families of our district. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

    Sincerely,

    Craig Kopetzki, Elementary Principal
