    Meet Principal Kopetzki

I grew up in Waldorf, MN and attended Waldorf-Pemberton Schools through 8th grade. I graduated from Mankato East High School and went on to St. John’s University and earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in music education. Soon after, I gained my Master’s degree from St. Mary’s University while teaching band at Waseca Jr. High. I left Waseca Schools to be the Director of Bands at Mankato East High School, where I have taught for the last 16 years. In 2019 I earned my Specialist degree in Administration and Leadership from Concordia University, St. Paul.

I will be starting my 26th year in education. 25 of those years I was a band director and I have taught in 4 different MN districts: Pierz, Jordan, Waseca, and have spent the last 16 years at Mankato East High School.

I am excited to get back to my smaller hometown area. I grew up in Waldorf and my parents still lived there up until a few years ago. I currently live in Waseca with my wife Tracy, daughter Lindsey, and my son Allen. Tracy is a high school English teacher there, Lindsey is a senior, and Allen is a 9th grader. I guess I can’t forget our two English Springer Spaniels, Tango and Harper. They are my hunting companions when I walk to find a pheasant. Hunting pheasants is one of my favorite pastimes along with following my kids in all of their activities. And when they are winning, I enjoy watching the Vikings and Twins.

I am very excited to be a part of the Panther community! We are in the business of people and building relationships and being part of a community is foundational in all of our successes. I look forward to many opportunities to meet you and support our students, staff, and community members any way I can!
