Introduction
Undergraduate
I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Disorders from the University of Minnesota, Mankato in 2012 and I graduated from the College of Graduate Studies at MSU, Mankato with a Masters in Communication Disorders in 2014.Educational/Career Experiences
As a graduate intern, I provide speech/language service to children and adolescents at Pediatric Therapy Services in Mankato, MN and I worked with clients of all ages with Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Austin, MN. After completing graduate school, I worked as an itinerant speech-language with River Bend Education District covering service for K-8 at Lafayette Charter School and birth to 2 services, middle school, and high school students in the Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop schools. Since then, I have spent eight years with Albert Lea Area Schools. Seven of the eight years, I worked with a very dynamice team of Early Childhood Special Education providers to coach, support, and provide services to families and children ages birth to two and ages three to five. While working with Albert Lea Schools, I also spent one year serving students in the elementary school.Family
My husband and I have a son who is five years old, a daughter who is two, and a beastly one year old pup with way too much energy! We are happy to call Ellendale our home and are excited to embrace the Panther Pride!Hobbies
I don't get much time to myself so my hobbies often revolve around my children. Together, we enjoy doing craft projects, baking, and tending to the yard and vegetable garden. As a family, we enjoy camping, hiking and sitting by a campfire, and exploring the many Minnesota State Parks. I also enjoy making cards, doing puzzles, and reading.Message to the Staff, Families and Students
I am thrilled for this opportunity to work with the families, children, and students within my local community! In my speech room, we work hard to achieve our speech and language goals, but I also try to make it as motivating and as fun as possible. Occasionally, students may receive activities for home practice because frequent home practice will contribute to faster progress and generalization of skills across environments. I look forward to working together with all NRHEG staff and parents to empower every child/student with the skills to become an independent communicator, build lasting relationships, have a strong knowledge base, and the ability to effectively share their knowledge with others.Connie Meyer
